The Wheel of Life: Is Life Balance Possible?
Many people state that Life Balance is a myth and you may be surprised, but I agree.
To expect everything to work out smoothly and evenly 100% of the time is unrealistic. Life and the unexpected is always going to happen but that does not give us a free ticket to throw up our hands and say, “There’s nothing I can do?”
Many of my coaching clients are out of balance and feel out of control because they failed to make deposits in all areas of their life. Perfect balance may be difficult but setting goals in seven areas of your life can help you reach a higher level of productivity and effectiveness.
Zig Ziglar called it The Wheel of Life. Dan Miller referred to it as the Seven Areas for Achievement in his best selling book 48 Days to the Work You Love.
Both of these gentlemen teach that setting goals in the following areas will lead to a better life by showing us how we need to distribute our time and focus.
- Spiritual
- Family
- Financial
- Physical
- Social
- Personal Development or Intellectual
- Career
Each one of these areas are connected and can lead to higher levels of success. However, if neglected, they can cause a person to spiral downward.
The best way to predict your future is to create it. ~ Stephen Covey
